From the desk of Pastor Lori

Happy Spring to All!  As I write this column, the daffodils are beginning to bloom and shout their joyous “trumpets of hope.”   I also see the hope of other spring flowers peeking through the ground after having been safely “hibernating” all winter long.  Sometimes these flowers remind me of myself.  At times my spirit “hibernates” and takes a break from the daily disciplines.  Then sometime later, with a renewed sense of purpose and energy, I break forth into the world again to “trumpet the good news.”

In reading my daily devotional from Guideposts, I was intrigued by this quote from John Wesley:
Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.

This quote reminds me that as we continue ministry in this place, we are called to go forth and “trumpet the Good News” as Wesley suggests above.  Are we doing that?  This is a question we will ponder for the next few weeks in worship as we celebrate the Resurrection and look forward to Pentecost.

May the Resurrection promise empower us each to go forth and share the blessings that God has given to us.

Easter Peace to each of you,

Pastor Lori
